The Wera 7880 Joker 4XL Self-Setting Insert Spanner (05020178001) is designed for use with torque wrenches from Wera's Click-Torque X and XP series with a 14 × 18 mm mounting. Covering hexagonal screw heads and bolts from 41 to 55 mm, including intermediate sizes, the tool is suitable for the assembly and disassembly of large fittings in plumbing, heating and ventilation applications.
The Joker 4XL features automatically and continuously self-adjusting parallel jaws that adapt to the required fastener size when the tool is placed onto a hexagonal bolt or screw head. Its integrated lever mechanism securely clamps the fastener between the jaws, helping reduce slipping and damage. The smooth, parallel jaw surfaces distribute force across the fastener rather than concentrating it at the corners.
Mechanical ratchet functionality allows continuous screwdriving without repeatedly removing the spanner from the fastener. Corner-width rectangular prisms in the jaws provide a return angle of just 30°. The insert also features a pin lock for secure attachment and rapid tool changes, along with chrome-vanadium steel construction for high-load applications.
A laser-engraved, abrasion-resistant QR code provides access to Wera's Torque Advisor. By scanning the appropriate tool QR codes and entering the required torque, the online tool calculates a corrected torque setting for the torque wrench and insert combination without manual formulas.
